Recently diagnosed with RA in May

Hi Everyone. Just still trying to get my head around everything. About to start on Methotrexate next week - Read about all different kinds of side effects… Has anybody had real positive change since taking. Always been fit & regular gym going… Finding I can't do the usual routines anymore… Does anybody know of a PT who deals training with RA… Any help would be much appreciated. Reading everyone's stories… RA… a challenge to be taken head on.

Hello @CaroleWalt13 and welcome to the Online Community. We are a friendly and supportive group and I hope that will be your experience as well.

I don't personally take methotrexate but from what I have read on here you need to stick with it as it can be a couple of months or so before you start to reap the benefits. If in doubt though reach out to your Rheumatology Team or GP. I've put a couple of links in below which I hope are of some use.

If you have any questions just ask on here. Most likely someone will have experience they can share. Please let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes

    Hi @CaroleWalt13

I've been on methotrexate now for 4 weeks and, like you, worried about the side effects. I have had no really bad side effects apart from a little tiredness the day after I take the methotrexate (although that may be because I do a yoga class!) I haven't yet seen any changes in symptoms though I think I was actually quite well when I started and it does take some time for the improvements to show.

Please persevere and keep in touch with the group to let us know how you get on.
