AGE 60 now due to works accident 38 yrs back (1986) . NOW have 2nd degerative changes to back spine . MOBILITY with aid off walk stick 20 meteres stand 1- 2 min . OPERATION been ruled out . Having pain manadgetnment treatnment . NO CURE ARTHRITISS, DISC L4/ L5 . SINCE august 2023 claimed LCWRA/ UC . AFTER usual hopes/ hurdadles FLAWED reporting by MAXIRUS / chda . BUT with help UNITE UNTION REP GOT awarded LCWRA . HOPEFULLY now we have since july 2024 change govertnment & CHANGE POLITICAL POLICYS . THEY will amend 2023 disability white paper . STOP trying to force / bully ALL folk with disabiltys who claim LCW/ LCWRA back to work . ESP if like me u age 60 + & payed 42 yrs class1 national insurance (PAYE) SO ur state OAP is payed for by pay min 35 yrs NI but cant claim it to 66 , rising . INDEED 1950S- 2016 . B4 APRIL 2016 tory/ con (DWP) Benefit/ Penstion reforms WOMEN retire & 60 not 65/66 & MEN 60/ 62 COULD claim penstion tax credits 61- 65 RETIRE ON HEALTH . Then 66 claim state oap & tax credits . NOT for last 8 yrs & 60 we more than payed our fair share into pot over life time work 40/45 yrs . NOW ALL YOU CAN CLAIM 60- 66 is UC & LCWRA . NO offchial retire early on health grounds . HOPEFULLY LABOUR show empathy , common sence give us the freedom off choice 60- 66 .TO retire on health like our parents & ground parents did could 1950 & 2016 over 60 yrs . UNITE UNTION will be meeting with LABOUR FROUNT BENCH & (DWP) To discuss benefits system & health issuies retirtnment shortly . WHAT do other folk ???? & over 60s who current cant work claim lcw/ lcwra & uc . THINCK .

Hi @ADRIAN , it's good to see that you're still posting and that Unite helped you to receive LCWRA. Let's see what difference the new government will make to the lives of people with long term health conditions and disabilities.

@ADRIAN the role of a Union and the benefits system and politicians all looks useful. (As does VA too!)

I am 70 and for health reasons decided not to retire early but entitled to paid time off for union duties as an elected Union Rep. So I took it. Time off (4hr pw). No loss of pay. An activity good for my sense of wellbeing.

My perspective on work is uniquely affected, I can see managers and employees pressurised into weakness by customers, with only the benefits system and the union to stand in their way.

& 60 NOW when cannot stand for more1- 2 min WITH OUT pain fatique / SHUFFLE more 20 meteres with aid stick . THEN you dont go OUT far do much . A PART doctors, dentists local cash point personal shop 1 weekk . For , 15 min , 20 min max with sitting down & with aid trolley for mobility . MEDICATION iam pain releif causes fatiquie . . SELF propel manual wheel chair is not option because pain/ fatiquie/ exhaustion . HOW you susspose to stand with 1 hand on stick & lift stow wheelchair in to & car 1 handed ????. . Property is not set up or is not wheel chair freindly . I been untion member 35 + yrs TGWU //// NOW UNITE . CERTAINLY over last 14 /// 2010- 2024 yrs . Seen work place standards drop . STAGNET wages switch from hourly pay £ x for 8 hours then £x 1.333 over time over 8 hours day . Switch to salarys based on MAX 48 hours week as wtd WORK TIME DIRECTIVE No overtime over 8 hours day / 40 week . BIG corporates / plc companys good this just thincking of share holders . AUSTERITY for mass us TAX OFFSHORE AVATION for few big global corporates / PLC , companys . BUT main point B4 2016 April (1948-2016 ) Over 60 yrs + ??? yrs CONservative (DWP) benefits , penstion reforms more Austerity for many 80% . WE had & age 60/ 62 freedom choice to retire early on HEALTH grounds . BUT not since april 2016 AS this was CONservative /dwp law change . Then labour/ dwp with the backing off untions can change Law again 2024-2029+++. . INC amending dreaded 2023 disability white paper / UC50 & PIP ASSETNMENTS merry go round / reform UC . PROBLEM ATM if age 60- 66 , there is no retire early on health legally . ONLY UC & LCWRA . Which comes with lot strings attached , Hopes , hurdles to jump througth . AS my MRI SCAN / EX RAYS . MY spine 2nd degenrativie changes treatable / NOT curable & degenrative for life . WANT get better . AS said pain manadgtnment , medication causes fatiquie . WE just have to wait see IF Labour is on the side workers / us folk with degenrative , disabilitys . ADJUST the laws to show empathy common sence , practicality . BUT as said LABOUR up against capatailist opposition /// BIG global corporates /// plc companys . WHO could shut ENGLISH side off there companys switch it abroad . WHICH has happened lot in manufacturing last 14 + yrs from food , cars , vans . STAY , WELL & SAFE . Baloo
