covid antivirals

Just to give others the heads up - I tested positive for covid on Tuesday morning so phoned the GP for a telephone appointment. GP phoned late afternoon and thought that I was only wanting advice about what to do about my meds (25mg methotrexate weekly and 200mg hydroxychloroquine daily). When I pointed out that it was to get advice about whether or not I needed antivirals (as per NHS website!) initially he was 'oh I don't know if the team is still in place'. To be fair, a couple of minutes after finishing the call had a text saying that I had been referred to the covid medicines unit and had a call from them about 20mins later. They quickly prescribed antivirals which were ready for a friend to collect for me the next morning.

Sorry for the double post - I was getting various error messages so it didn't look like the post was readable!

Thanks for bringing this to everyones attention @JenHB hope the drugs help and you get over it soon.

For every fit and healthy person it sounds like its keep calm and cary on attitude.

For us immunosupressed its a different story and you was spot on to push further with the gp.

Covid is sadly here for life now. there is a new nasty strain out at the moment but you hear noting on the news anymore so the rest of humanity just cary on as normal and as no one does the tests anymore they think they just have a cold or flu and carry on regardless going about their daily buisiness mingling in crouds, on transport or going to work and its once again spreading.

Ive worked for the NHS for 43 years and have been stuck at home since covid began and it looks like i will never be able to go back to work again as every time i ask they say its too high risk and stay working from home.
