Can I walk safely with foot arthritis?

This I found: does it concern the feet?? It is not confirmed when reading further, bit insecure I am.

@jitske maybe just avoid running 🙂. I can't help thinking some walking is helpful, but I found overdo it and then the pain and flare ups will increase. I had to draw the line at limping and then decided to take action by wearing some cushioned soles, which allowed me to walk further without pain, and decided to cut the distance down to something more bearable.

My gadget says I am averaging 3,000 or 4,000 steps a day

    Hello @jitske

    welcome to the online community.

I see you are wondering whether it is a good idea to walk with arthritis in your foot (feet maybe?) We are not medically trained, but we do have this information which may be of use to you:

The other thing I might suggest is seeing a physiotherapist to ask this very question. Many if not most of our members do walk with their Arthritis of course, but in many areas you can 'self refer' to a physiotherapist just ask at your Dr's surgery.

    Best wishes

    Ellen.

    HI @jitske

I walk every day and have arthritis in my feet as well as a fair few other places. However yours might be different to mine so I agree with Ellen you should see a physio if you can at get some advice.

The correct footwear will also help.

In my Drs there's a phone number on the noticeboard and you can ring them direct.

    Good luck
