Could this be arthritis?
Good morning. Yesterday morning I woke up with what felt like a sprained ankle, completely out of the blue. It was hard to put weight on and visibly swollen. Loosened as the day went on and I wondered whether I’d slept funny on it, or even walked in my sleep! As the day went on, my other ankle became still and then my wrists. All are very stiff and uncomfortable this morning, as is my neck. I struggled to hobble to the bath room and up and down stairs. I had an infection of sorts last weekend and a temperature and swollen lymph node behind my ear but felt well in myself generally. I have just read that an infection can trigger arthritis. Feel like I’ve very suddenly aged over night. Thank you very much in advance for any advice and thoughts on this x :)

apologies, poorly written. I’ll blame my stiff wrists ;)

Good morning @Kate40 and welcome to the online community.
Sorry to hear your concerns regarding new pain in your body.
I started off very similar to you and contacted GP for appointment and started the process.
Personally I would suggest you take photos and make notes of pains as evidence.
If you can get an appointment to see doctor to confirm what they think to confirm.
Everyone is different therefore best to make sure first.
Keep us posted and best wishes @Naomi33

Given that it has followed an infection it could be viral arthritis. I suggest you make an appointment with your GP.
I had that many years ago. It took about 6 months to clear up.

Thank you, everyone. I plan to go to my drs tomorrow. Something definitely not right. Just feel shocked at how quickly this seems to have come on x

I would also say 'potentially'. With me, back in August 2021 I had got back from a cycling holiday (did about 150 miles over the week) and a few days later my left knee was very swollen (but not really painful) but it meant I couldn't really bend the knee so walking was difficult. I assumed that it was linked to the cycling and as I was meant to be doing a half marathon a month later I booked to see a private sports physio. I was shocked when she quickly ruled out a cycling related injury and instead wrote a letter to my GP telling them to do bloods as it could be some sort of inflammatory arthritis. After bloods, I was quickly referred to rheumatology.
