Tiger Balm?

I’m seeings lots of ads for this during the Olympics. I can’t use any NSAIDS not even things like Voltarol. I can use Deep Heat carefully, and do use Biofreeze. I wonder does Tiger Balm work also? I used to have some years ago but that was for insect bites.

    Hi

I think Tiger Balm is brilliant. I used the red one all the time while my hip was at its worst but be aware it does stain.

Like you I can't have NSAIDS and it was only fairly recently I was told not to use anti inflammatory creams either by my wonderful pharmacist due to the effects of absorption.

    Hi @Socialdancer,

Yep - another fan of Tiger Balm here, I first started using it to soothe sore muscles after Running. Like most of these gles and creams, it's good for sprains and sore muscles but won't touch inflammation or boe-on-bone pain.

My Arthritis is in my knees and to help keep my trousers clean and aid absorption I put on elasticated knee supports after applying it.

One of the best gels (for me) I found to be FlexiSeq, it really helps reduce crunching and grinding, smells o.k too.

    Hope that helps,

    Jon

    Hi @Socialdancer

Yep I've found that tiger balm works well for me too. My leg joints especially my knees are the most painful. I don't know know how or why it works or what the difference is between the red and white versions (except the red stains ) but I can walk more eaily and feel better.

I have some flexiseq but not really tried it yet. I'll give it ago.

  • Thank you for your replies. I tried Flexiseq years ago, a lot of dancers use it, but it brought me out in a rash 😏

Hi @Socialdancer tank you for your post! its important to remember that what works for some people may not work for others.

having said that, I do personally recommend Tiger Balm if Deep Heat works for you; in my experience I find that I get more relief from Tiger Balm than I get from Deep Heat for my Rheumatoid Arthritis. I noticed that you mentioned that you dance, and my sister is a non-arthritic Irish Dancer who swears by Tiger Balm.

Hopefully it also works for you if you do decide to give it a try 🤗
