Cimzia - side effects
Hi all
I’m Rebecca, I’m 41 and was diagnosed with RA at 39. I was put on Cimzia in April 2023 and have been symptom / pain free since then.
However, since December I have had reactions I think are caused by Cimzia. I get recurrent thrush. Doctor has me on prophylaxis for this - weekly oral tablet, but, it’s not shifting. I have had blood tests for diabetes etc, all came back negative.
Any advice welcomed! Thanks

Hi @Bex91 and welcome to our online community!
I'm sorry to hear this. Perhaps there will be other people who have had a similar experience with this drug who can advise, however I do think it would be a good idea to get in touch with your Rheumatologist about this. There may be a different drug you could try if this one is causing negative side effects to you.
Please keep us updated and I hope you get sorted quickly.

Hi Claudia
Thank you… I have an appointment tomorrow with rheumatologist, so will explain. They know it was starting to be a pain back at my last appointment in December. The thing is, the drug works so well for pain and flexibility. I’m saddened I’m having this side effect, as I don’t want to start to go through adjusting to a new drug if that’s the case… I know it’ll be methotrexate next and I want to have children so it’s something I’ve been avoiding.
So I pray they can help 🙏🏻0
