Operation weight requirements
Hi my name is Ray and I recently saw a nurse at the RVI Newcastle to discuss my worsening problem with the Arthritis in my left knee. We finally got to the subject of the possibility of an operation to replace the knee but after working out my BMI she said that I would have to lose weight before I would even be considered. I was thinking that if I lose enough weight maybe the pain would lessen, any thoughts ?

Hi @Gier , sorry to hear about your situation; unfortunately I am unable to give advice on your particular situation but hopefully someone else will come along who can 😊. For the time being I have attached a link which you may find worthwhile having a little look over.
Being overweight can increase the strain on your joints, so keeping to a healthy weight can help with arthritic pain but it is different for each individual person. Wishing you all the best luck with your knee replacement and anything you may have to do to obtain it!
