Raised Liver Levels
Hi
I was diagnosed with RA 2 years ago and my liver levels are consistently raised in regular blood tests. My consultant took me off methotrexate and put me on sulphalazine. I've now been on this for a year.
I had liver scans which are normal but am now being referred to a gastroenterologist. The consultant wants to see if there's an underlying cause.
Has anyone else had these issues?

Hi @Jane68
I am actually right now going through this like you I was put on MTX 12 weeks ago dose was raised and bloods monitored. Then had a appointment showed liver markers raised taken off MTX and put on folic acid daily.
I have still been having 2 weekly bloods tests but no results so contacted consultants secretary and asked for update as felt like I was left in limbo assuming and hoping no news is good news 🤞🤞
Feel like I am not alone now thank you ❤

Hi
I've been on MTX for over 10 years, I go through phases of elevated liver function, it became more regular and I was taken off my meds for a while to see how things went. Everything normalised and they never really found the cause. Only thing mentioned was alcohol, I know you have to be careful when on Mtx, I was advised to change my injection day to during the week so if I did go out at the weekend and have a couple of drinks it wasn't too close to the injection day
