Hospital update

Hi peeps.

Thought I’d check in. Hope everyone is the best they can be health wise.

Yesterday I had a follow up at Rheumatology. Saw the top lady this time. Long story short, there is a strong possibility that I will go onto biologicals. After an examination, it was clear to her, that the new meds although have helped a little, have not got me to where she thinks I should be.

She also informed me I have a frozen shoulder on my right side, from months of not being able to move my arms/ shoulders due to the Arthritis. I will have an appointment for ultra sounds, and steroid injection, possibly in both shoulders. I said I was grateful for the little bit of headway I had made on the methotrexate injections, and the Leflunomide. She said she didn’t want me to be grateful, she wanted me to feel better. I left feeling like she had really understood how I felt.

I feel so lucky to have had really good care at my Rheumatology dept.

Wow Woofy she sounds lovely! First time for ages I've heard someone so very kind and helpful!!

Good luck with the jabs and ultrasound.

I had a steroid jab in Rt shoulder in July took about 10 days to work so be prepared for that.

I'm very pleased for you 😊

    Hi @Woofy

That's really good news that you've got an understanding rheumatologist - it makes such a difference. I hope the biologic makes a significant difference - I know it has for me.

Hi Toni. Thank you that is helpful to know. I am sure the ultrasounds are to justify giving me biologicals.

They are incredibly expensive. My shoulder has been very painful, but I know it’s about 8 weeks wait for the injections. I will carry on it’s been 3 years nearly to get to this place, a few more weeks won’t bother me.
