Groin pain

32 months of right sided groin pain. Deep sharp pain triggered by certain movements and positions. Sitting forward, crossed legs, legs pressed together. X ray 2 years ago showed degenerative changes and an osteophyte. Recent CT showed nothing. Had diagnostic local anaesthetic injection 18 months ago which stopped all pain for 2 days. Hip stiff after sitting a while and makes me limp. Next appointment with orthopaedic consultant next week. I am at a loss. He won’t do anything due to CT results. What can I do?

Morning @Jayneyb Of course you'll be scared you won't get any help if the CT showed nothing.

I was wondering who said the CT showed nothing though? It must have shown something if the Xray 18 months ago showed osteophytes and degeneration??? Surely 😕

In your shoes I'd write down what you've described your symptoms duration of stiffness etc and above all do not go alone to the appointment. I believe that taking someone with you can stop them from fobbing you off.

If this works go to page 10 it tells you what the different tests are useful for with hip arthritis. It seems to indicate Xrays might well be the most useful.

Wishing you the best of luck
