Best compression socks/sleeves for swollen ankle after ankle fusion surgery
Hi. Ive joined here because Ive got osteoarthritis in shoulder and am now waiting X-ray and blood results to see if my pain and some swellings in fingers and toes are also arthritis related. Seems a really nice and helpful group.
Im not asking about myself but have just bumped into a fellow dog walker, who broke down in front of me (with her 3 dogs) and using a walking stick as she was still in pain after having an ankle fused (over a month ago). I don’t know the ins and outs of the op etc, but her pharmacy don’t seem to be particularly helpful regarding compression sleeves over her ankle. Therefore Im asking on this forum, which are the best ones any of you have tried? She’s been struggling with one type but cant get the toe part over her toes, so she’s looking for toeless socks if there are ones.
Im away next week, so if any of you could get back to me today, I’d be so grateful, otherwise I‘ll just pick various ones from internet to show her this afternoon. Thanks.

Good morning @hayleymm18 and welcome to the online community.
Sorry to hear your concerns about fellow dog walker and her toeless sock problem.
Personally I use tuba grip which I buy on a roll and cut to suit my joints in pain at that time.
However as your fellow dog walker discussed with her doctor or consultant to see what is best for her condition ?? Maybe referral to podiatrist would be good ??
The following links maybe of interest ….
I am sure others will connect with you soon.
Best wishes @Naomi33

Thanks very much Naomi33. Unsure what she has discussed with her consultant/gp but will advise her to talk to them tomorrow and also the podiatrist. Forgot about tubagrip when I was with her! Thank you.

Hi, You seem to be a very kind friend but I think there's some mistake here. If your friend had an ankle fused so recently she would not need a support as she'd still be in a surgical boot or pot and she certainly wouldn't:t be out walking three dogs.(No wonder the pharmacist couldn't help!)
I think she needs to speak to her surgical team. .She also needs to keep her weight off the ankle..
Anywaya, good luck to both of you. I hope your own appointment goes well.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
