was diagnosed with mild OA in hip in Feb 2020 and in knee in early 2023. I have managed fine with doing yoga exercises up til now, but have taken up walking solidly for 30 mins a day and they both ache really bad during the walk. I walk quite fast which seems to irritate, so don’t know if I am over doing it with the walking and yoga stuff or not, any advice welcome. Can’t take ibruphen only paracetamol.

Hello @Phyll and welcome to the Community. We are a friendly and supportive group and I hope that will be your experience as well.

It is good that you are exercising as every bit helps though if it really starts to hurt then maybe you should ease off a bit. Have you sought ant medical or physio advice at all?

You might find the following of use to help keep moving.

Both are stretching videos from our Versus Arthritis YouTube channel. Hope they help.

Please let us know how you are getting on.

    Best wishes

    Hi @Phyll

When were your hips last 'looked at'? I only ask because my MIL had an X-ray and was in agony only 2 years later when they re looked at them she had surgery almost immediately. This was of course before COVID and waiting lists were better then.

I'd still walk if I was you just try slowing down a little. The walk not only helps with our muscles and tendons, but our mental health too don't you think?

    Take care
