Painful knee replacement
Finally had a knee replacement on 17th Sept. Swelling and pain was huge and I was put on 20ml of morphine with paracetamol. The pain was intense but I was still made to climb a set of stairs despite crying out with every step. I was discharged and had to stay with sister as I was crying out in pain. The swelling got worse and I was advised by 111 to go to the Emergency Dept within the hour. My sister took me and when they saw the huge swelling I was kept in for 3 days. I had developed a Hematoma near the wound and was given an ultrasound where it was discovered. My journey has been hell and I am now doing more physio to help strengthen the leg although I’m a bit behind schedule. Has anyone else had a hematoma post surgery or any other issues?. I cry myself to sleep at times as I’m so overwrought. I’m used to pain but this was on another scale.

oh Ellen that sounds so similar although it’s my knee not hip. The pain is agony and everyone is obsessed on my physio exercises and not helping with the excruciating pain of the Hematomas. I will be calling my GP to ask for help. Thank you.
