Hello @StuartCowley and welcome to the online community,
It can be a bit of a shock being diagnosed with OA, and your GPs suggestion to ‘just get on with it’ doesn’t sound very helpful. It’s true that painkillers can really help to manage the symptoms of OA, but there are many other ways that will help you to manage your condition. You’ve made a good start by joining the online community - all our members live with arthritis and have a wealth of practical experience that they are happy to share. Do have a look round the forum, ask questions and join in any conversations where you feel comfortable.
Finding out more information about your condition is always useful. Have a look at the link below. It’s the Versus Arthritis help sheet about arthritis. It tells you more about the condition and all the different ways you can help manage it and live well:Do keep posting- everyone is very friendly,
