    Hello @StuartCowley and welcome to the online community,

    It can be a bit of a shock being diagnosed with OA, and your GPs suggestion to ‘just get on with it’ doesn’t sound very helpful. It’s true that painkillers can really help to manage the symptoms of OA, but there are many other ways that will help you to manage your condition. You’ve made a good start by joining the online community - all our members live with arthritis and have a wealth of practical experience that they are happy to share. Finding out more information about your condition is always useful. Have a look at the link below. It’s the Versus Arthritis help sheet about arthritis. It tells you more about the condition and all the different ways you can help manage it and live well:

    Hi @Stuartknee , what medication are you on? Perhaps someone on the same meds can give you some advice :)

    @Stuartknee

    I wish I knew, is there any other ways you can get your pain levels down. I mean without painkillers. Ones that might get you out of trouble if only they worked better.

    It's bad enough not sleeping much with the pain, without the painkillers not helping

    @Stuartknee

    I am going to be devils advocate and suggest sleep as often as possible, at least twice, because catching up on sleep is a real process.

    If you happen to have a smart watch you can actually see it happening.
