Taking Amlodipine

Recently started taking Amlodipine for blood pressure and have had an arthritic flare up in both hands and wrists , very swollen and painful ! Has anyone else had this problem ? I know that it causes swollen ankles .

    Hello janwoodin16, I was on Amlodipine for 3 or 4 years before being struck down with R.A., I had no problems with it before R.A. got me but afterwards I got the swollen feet! Ankles were OK, but oh boy did my feet swell. My GP changed me from Amlodipine to Ramipril and so far no problems. I get constant flares but I don't think I can blame the blood pressure pills, I assume it's merely coincidence - I was getting them while on both pills. But others here may have different experiences. That's the problem - we all react differently to medications. Worth talking to your GP about it, I think. What other medications are you on, they could be fighting each other!
