Pain in hip after knee replacement surgery
hi
Five days ago I had aTKR on my right side. I am taking the painkillers and doing the exercises. I am going up and down stairs twice a day and going for a short and I mean short walk. However I am in a lot of pain in my right hip and buttock, is this usual and does anyone have any suggestions to cope with the pain?

Hello @Carolyn1965 and welcome to the Community. We are a friendly and supportive group and I hope that will be your experience as well.
Our website is a mine of information so do look at it. If you haven't already read it, you might be particularly interested in this link. It describes recovery from TKR and it may help.
Also, our community members will have vast experience so keep checking back here for their responses.
From my own experience of TKR some years ago, I would say you are doing all the right things. I found that pain moved around a lot in the first weeks after surgery. I put it down to the fact that I walked strangely for quite a while before the op so my body was getting used to walking properly. However, if you have any worries you should still be able to contact someone on the ward to discuss - failing that speak to your own GP.
Please keep posting now you are here and let us know how you are getting on.
Best wishes
Mary
