Swollen lymph nodes on Sulfasalazine
I’ve recently changed from Methotrexate injections to Sulfasalazine tablets. I had been on methotrexate since November 2020 and I’ve been taking Sulfasalazine for nearly 2 weeks but for the last 4 days I’ve had really sore swollen lymph nodes in the back of my neck. Managed to speak to Rheumatology today and need to stop my meds until they calm down and then try starting the tablets again and keep it monitored. Just wondering if anyone else had this side effect from Sulfasalazine or if it could be something completely unrelated.

Hi @Naomi84 nice to meet you☺️
I might be wrong, but i think we can also get swollen lymph nodes when our disease is not under control too or if we have an infection.
It sounds like your team are trying to eliminate your sulfa as a possible cause. If it's not the Sulfa they'll soon know. I think you've done absolutely the right thing speaking to them and hope you'll feel better soon.
Good luck and do let us know how you get on it might help someone else too in future.
Take care
