Hello! I'm struggling to get to sleep and stay asleep due to pain in my hips and knees. Any suggestions on what to look for in a good mattress? Or things to avoid? Thank you

Hi @makingpasta I love your username and yes please I love pasta!😊

Have you tried a pillow between your knees if you're a side sleeper or behind them if you're a back sleeper? I also have a neck pillow I think they are called 'groove pillows' that helps as it aligns my spine so helps almost the whole body.

I think mattresses are such a personal thing aren't they? I hated those memory foam ones I seemed to get far too hot and also 'stuck in position' made a permanent 'dent' where I slept and that was a REALLY expensive one like the Rolls-Royce of mattresses.

    Husband loved it though.

The only other thing that really did help me was getting a bed (it was a bed) which is the right height for me to get in and out of easily so not to low else you are getting up and falling into if you know what I mean?

Best of luck sorry I didn't really answer your question did I?

    Toni x

  • Thank you Toni, agree pasta is awesome! Especially home made 😋

A pillow between/under knees is a good idea thank you. That may help with aligning my hips.

Mattress are a bit of a minefield for sure, so I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it's a minefield!

Really appreciate your time and information shared x
