Hi everyone,

I'm new to the group, having being diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in both feet (big toes) and left hip.

I also have bulging dics in my spine. Walking and any exercise gives me sciatica pain. Any tips on something I can do to relieve this? Physio has given me some stretching to do that does help. Would walking with a stick help? I know swimming is supposed to be good, but I cant swim! 🤣

Thanks

Morning @Golfpunk and welcome to the online community.

Sorry to hear your concerns about OA in both feet and left hip.

Well I joined pain management courses at the beginning of my RA and OA journey. They go through all sorts of exercises (gently) with you and a small group. You then decide what suits you and your condition.

The following links maybe of interest to you…..

There are lots of exercises on the versus arthritis website you can try in the comfort of your own home if you feel more comfortable that way. I try and get in a pool when my arthritis allows and just simply walk around and backwards slowly and sideways. Try asking your GP for a referral for 6 weeks hydrotherapy at your local hospital. I did went once a week and was in small group with others or just 2 of us for half an hour in blissful warm water. You do not have to be able to swim it is all standing level, and rails everywhere, very safe, and physio in water with you… 👍
