Hi all

Well, my turn has come tomorrow and I'm in at 7am for THR.

I've been really lucky and the Red Cross delivered my aids last weekend so I'm all prepared.

The toilet frame they've sent me is horrendous. With the potty like seat it literally sucks you into it when you sit!

I'm sorry to ask, it's a delicate subject but how on gods green earth are you meant to use it successfully whilst abiding by the 90 degree rule??

I'm not a curvy woman but I just can't figure out how you're meant to do your business when it's so uncomfortable before the operation never mind after.

Any advice would be really appreciated 😊

    Morning to you @ItsjustLisa

I wish you the very very best of luck for your surgery today.

Just a question can the potty seat come off and the frame go over your open toilet bowl? There are so many different types that I am struggling to be sure which type you have.

In your shoes I'd be asking the nursing staff/OT/Physio for help at the hospital.

    Good luck again

    Ellen.

Best of luck from me too @ItsjustLisa I am sure all will have going/be going/go very very well and you'll soon be giving us your updates😊

Hope you get the raised toilet seat issue sorted.

Good luck tomorrow, and don't rush the recovery, it's not a race. The raised toilet seat is your friend. I felt the same when I took delivery of mine, but trust me, you'll need it. I went to visit my mother a few weeks after surgery (hubby drove) and needed to use her loo. Let's just say I almost had to call my husband in to get me off it, I managed by grabbing the sink and door handle and heaving myself up. Good job they were firmly fixed! Never again!

@frogmorton @Lilymary thank you so much for your advice and encouragement.

7 days post op and I've got used to the contraption 😂. It helped learning to use it in the hospital before I was discharged.

I think I set it a bit too high because my legs were swinging around in front of me and it sucked me in, but all is good now 😊

    Hi @ItsjustLisa

lovely to hear how you are doing I'm so glad you can use the seat now that must be a relief. Hope the legs are lowered now and just right and you are coping ok?

I mean post op not just the loo!
