Hi @Alison71
Welcome to the Online Community.
I see you've just been diagnosed with Arthritis in multiple joints, have you had a chance to read this information about Osteoarthritis (OA)? It includes a section with tips for managing pain.
I hope there is something in there you haven't tried which helps you.
Best wishes
Ellen.

Hi, I would suggest talking this through with your GP, but when I was put on these meds and found I was still in pain, he said there wasn't anything he could add to it, which was depressing to hear. Most people will say pain meds only knock the edge off it, which I found to be true. They kept me mobile, but that was about it. I'm sorry I can't be more positive on that score.
It helps to have other things in your armoury, so you might find this link helpful. Keeping active and busy really helps, as distraction takes your mind off the pain, and keeping mobile will help tone the muscles that support your joints, and stops your joints moving. But you also need to learn not to overdo it, as it can take days to recover, so learn to pace yourself and schedule in recovery days if you know you have to be busy. Gentle exercise classes can also help, and non-weight bearing exercise such as swimming. But be kind to yourself. Arthritis can be hard work.

@Alison71 I was so far along with my arthritis by the time I sought prescription medication, Naproxen didn't suit me at all!
They didn't help the pain and made me feel constantly sick and I got occasional chest tightness.
I went back to my GP and he prescribed Dihydrocodeine 30mg 1 tablet 4 times a day. That was in march. You have to be careful because the maximum dose is 8 tablets but, if what you've been prescribed isn't working it's best you go back to your GP.
By October I was up to the maximum dose but my hips were both bone on bone and the right was literally grinding itself away and the bone was disintegrating so might be worth getting an update on where your arthritis is at too.
Good luck, the pain really is like no other.

Good afternoon
I am a new member (62)
Thank you for accepting me into this group.
I have read some discussions amongst the members of this group and am so glad I joint. Members are very supportive and honest and the tips you give each other are so informative.
I have recently been diagnosed with OA in my left knee (MRI). But the pains are also in my right knee, ankles and sometimes my hands. I was prescribed Naproxen and Omeprazole, and Cocodamol.
These worked when the pain was at its worst but I have now moved over to Paracetamol and occasionally Ibuprofen tablets or gel. A friend recommended CBD Ease. I am taking the CBD oil when I want to give my liver and kidneys a rest.
My lovely son and his wife bought me a small handheld massager that I use occasionally on my knee, it also helps. It is only small like a cordless drill and not too heavy.
I would say CBD Ease works just as well as Paracetamol on my knee pain. I managed to loose 4kg in weight and am so extremely proud. I tried for so many years but have somehow managed to kick start the loss finally. Apparently it is said that for each pound in weight lost the pressure on the knees is reduced by 4 pound.
Am hoping I won't need Naproxen again soon. I have continued to visit our allotment, doing what I can and taking a break when necessary.
The email reminders to check the online community are very helpful.
No doubt I'll be looking in again for a chat soon. Wishing all those members who have operations ahead of them lots of courage and strength and speedy, successful recoveries. All those in pain like me, do not give up hope. Keep trying what is offered and hopefully it will help you manage your pain.
If it returns, like in my knee today, rest a little. But now I need to move it and stretch. Bye for now and take care.
