Inflammatory arthritis and tendinopathy?

Hi everyone,

has anyone with inflammatory arthritis noticed getting tendinopathy as well? I wondered if there was a link. I have inflammatory arthritis and have been getting tendinopathy in various tendons. I put it down to getting older or just bad luck but I am wondering if there might be a link. I am on Methotrexate, though, so I am not sure if the tendinopathy is likely to occur due to my arthritis.

Has anyone else noticed this? My doctor or the nurses never mentioned tendons.

Many thanks.

  • Hi, I have RA and I tend to get tendonitis frequently especially next to an inflamed joint.

My husband says it’s like I get sports injuries out of the blue without even moving 😂.

Likely it maybe due to fibromyalgia. Trying to separate the different aches & pains is a full time job.

Massage helps short term, diclofenac cream helps too.

    Hi @Cara123

I have inflammatory arthritis - psoriatic arthritis - and have also been diagnosed with enthesitis which is where there is swelling of the ligaments and tendons as they attach to the bone. I've also been treated for trigger finger which is a form of tendinopathy but is also linked to inflammatory arthritis and enthesitis.
