I am new here and very pleased to have found this site
Hi,
I have been living with osteoporosis and arthritis for many years now and despite following medical advice I cannot say the pain is any less.
Following a recent fall and suffering a crush fracture in my vertebrae I am now being offered a drug called Romosozumab (Evenity). This involves two injections at the same time once a month. You can only stay on it for one year. I have read the comments of people who are currently using this drug and the side effects are awful - more pain, nerve problems, hair loss, weight gain and so on. The drug was at first rejected by NICE in 2021. In 2022 it was approved so it is a very new drug. None of the people I have read about who are on it have had a Dexa Scan yet as they have not completed their years use so they do not know if it has made any difference to their bone density.
Has anybody here used this drug and how did they cope with the side effects? Has it made a difference to their bone density? If they managed to get through the year on it what are they taking now?
Sorry for the long post but when I next see my Rheumatologist he is going to want to know if I am happy to proceed.
I look forward to your views.
Adrienne

Hello @Adrienne
Welcome to the forum.
Here is a link to some information about Romosozumab which I hope will help you decide.
www.medicines.org.uk is a great site for researching medications! Does your rheumatologist have other patients on the drug/ what is the rationale for recommending it/other options?
Hopefully you will get some replies from people currently using Romosozumab soon.
Best Joanne
