Methotrexate mouth ulcers
Hi. Anyone any helpful tips for dealing with annoying mouth ulcers due to methotrexate weekly injections. I’m using a warm salt mouth rinse couple times a day as recommended and bonjela rheumatologist nurse said above ok to do, just wondering if anyone else has any advice that may help. Only been on methotrexate injections for 2 weeks.. Taking folic acid tablets 48 hours after as directed 2 tablets once a week.

Hi @Jca I am sorry you are having trouble everything you are doing is right though.
When my daughter was taking vast quantities of MTX (by drip for cancer) the hospital prescribed Difflam definitely worth a chat with your pharmacist though before you start it. I love my pharmacist he knows so much more than anyone!
I have always managed pretty well ok I only get one at a time - mouth ulcer I mean!
Best of luck

Morning @Jca
I was taking MTX and had problems with mouth and had to have tooth extracted may or may not have been connected, however with other side effects I was taken off it and now looking at Adalimumbab as alternative.
Maybe discuss with your doctor or consultant???
Best wishes @Naomi33

I've found the best thing is Corsodyl medicated mouthwash. It's the only thing that gets rid of my mouth ulcers.
