I am 54 and feeling a little afraid and a little sad 😔 . Why? Because l am in my first time of life after having a great sports person and fit have now less abilities that l am struggling with.

I have hand problems and upper spine difficulties.

I am always trying to adapt find a new path but this time l feel defeated because every time l try a new hobby l end up in hospital and get myself into trouble 🙃.

The doctor at the hospital said you can't do the same things anymore so not sure what else to try ?

I feel depressed 😔.

Please can someone give me a little hope today and give me new suggestions

Thank you Alice.

Hi @alicewonderland10 . Like yourself I had a good sports background. It is difficult adjusting to life after sports. I have found trying new exercises programs beneficial and keeps the mind body active. Pilates is helpful, low impact and don't need a lot of equipment. Lots of helpful videos online. Swimming or pool exercises are also good for staying active. Also try and stay involved in your chosen sport in some capacity is good for mental health. Hope this helps

@alicewonderland10, hello hello ... I tend to be philosophical here:

1/ I thank all the healthy years I had. 2/ I focus on practicing 'keep away from depression it can only make 1 more ill'. 3/ research to adapt - create new ways. 4/ big tuning to gentle. 5/ playfulness. 6/ study. 7/ all lost comes with a gain/a new learning when the mind is open to mind growth/also some form of new pair of glasses onto the world/humanity. 8/ life is made of chapters.

Occasionally sometime grey is in the air and I say: hello grey :) and we look at each other amused.

1 fascinating fact, each day is unique, like life is a river.

Morning @alicewonderland10 and welcome to the online community.

Sorry to hear your concerns about exercising and feeling depressed.

    You are not alone ❤

I was advised to try a pain management course to see what I could do not what I could not do. Met like minded people which helped to.

What positive thoughts, thank you, I have saved it for the difficult days.

I'm sure it's not always easy but definitely worth a try.

    Take care!
