Waiting for diagnosis

Hi, first time posting 👋 I am playing the waiting game - 3 week wait for xrays to come back on my knee.

Dr seems to think arthritis and from what I have read it fits. I have had general weakness and occasional pain in my left knee for 25 years but a couple of weeks ago it suddenly got much worse - bone pain, weakness and loss of mobility.
Dr said can’t make it worse walking on it so tried to be brave and kept working ,in primary school so very active. Pain and lack of mobility just kept getting worse becoming unmanageable. I got myself signed off for rest of term. Now I am at home feeling guilty for not working! Pain managable if I don’t do much but know I need to keep moving.
My concern is without a diagnosis I don’t know whether I should be resting or moving, afraid of doing more harm. My knee feels unstable inside if that makes sense.
I know you don’t all have crystal balls so can’t tell me whats going on with my knee, I guess I am just looking for some reassurance from you experts!
