Hi everyone. Just joined the group and I'm struggling.

Went to physio at GP with knee pain which was getting worse. I'm yoldci have OA.

He sent me some exercises by email which I've tried to follow for 3 months. But I'm in SO much pain. Not only in knees but calves and thighs. Apparently it's the exercises? Had to stop walking and gardening. Taking Nefopam and using deep freeze gel.

Feeling really miserable

    Hi @Block94

Have you had any xrays on your knees?

If not I would suggest that you ask your go/physio to arrange them for you.

I am very sceptical when we are diagnosed with OA by someone just looking at us with no more than a glance. How can someone see how bad your joints are if they can't see the actual degradation of the joint? I know there are some really good physios out there but I've had a few dodgy ones who literally just look at you, no touching and think they know what's going on inside your body.

A xray will prove the extent if your OA and should form the basis of your treatment plan.

Well exactly. They see. To be trying everything before xrays.

Exercises at home. Now today I'm going to physio at hospital and am likely to be pit on a 6 week exercise course.

Gp physio said "and If still no better maybe we will think about injections or xrays.

Pain is now in calves and thighs.

Lers see how i get on today

    UPDATE

A useful trip yo physio. She spent quite a lot of time examining and talking to me.

She has given me some extremely gentle exercises and stretches which won't impact on my calves so such. She doesn't know why I was told to stop walking and given me the ok to walk short distances with my group. Wants to see me in 6 weeks

Indeed. If I can stop the calf pain I'd be pleased.

Still don't understand the avoidance of xrays though
