How do you get dressed?
My dad has arthritis in his hands, spine, hips & knees, he is finding it really hard to put his underpants and trousers on. He uses the folded towel technique for his socks. What works best for pants & trousers? He is determined to be independent & not have someone dress him.

Hi if you do an Internet search you will find various aids. I got a zip puller which is a great help putting on boots. I've also seen on here other ideas such as jump leads for pulling things up.
hope this helps
Best wishes
Peter

A long shoehorn one side of the waist and with a long grabber on the other side, pull up the trousers or the underpants. There are many videos about this in youtube. For the socks, I think the best method is to use a cheap plastic sock aid.

Hi
I found the easiest method of getting dresed post total hip replacement was to have a long handled shoe horn and one of those contraptions that looks like a litter picker. Make sure the shoe horn has a hook shape on the top of the handle. I always opted for baggy socks and trousers as they were much easier to get on and off. Cargo pants are brilliant as they have lots of pockets.

Thank you very much everyone. He has those aids so I will let him know your thoughts. Hopefully, he will accept the ideas and not try to stubbornly continue without!

Good luck with that! I am just as stubborn. Tell him to put the hooked end of the long handled shoe horn into the belt loops of his trousers before putting his feet into them and then use the shoe horn to pull them up.
