Anyone else noticed a sudden flare up?

Hi,

I have recently been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my right hip (having had my left hip replaced 3 years ago). It's been really painful over the last couple of months but, with the help of GP's prescription of Zapain and Ibuleve, it's been "bearable" (I'm sure you know what I mean!). However, this afternoon/evening, it's been so painful and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced a flare up? Is this something to do with the currently forecast low pressure weather system? I keep trying to move about and sleep with a hot water bottle on my thigh/hip but this evening it's difficult just walking from the living room to the kitchen.

Hello @Ru208 yes the weather does seem to be a factor. I've put a link in below which refers to warm weather, but does have some relevance - have a look.

    Best wishes

Thank you Peter. That does seem to make sense in as much as damp/wet weather in summer or winter does seem to make things feel worse.

As I said in my post, I try to keep moving whatever the weather or time of year but do notice a difference. I'll just keep moving :)

Hi, funnily, my hip is playing up over last few days, I have so far put it down to not being so active over the Xmas break (sitting chilling out more than I usually do), so will monitor to see if weather/humidity has an affect.

thank you, I haven’t considered used walking aids yet though do tend to hold something like a table if I can when I stand at present. Will have a look at the stretches, I find they can flare up the symptoms unless I am on a strong anti inflammatory (not on such meds currently) so need to discuss with physio
