HLA-B27
Hello all!
I'm Jayne and I'm 65, suffered with joint problems since I was young and so have my daughters, now my grandson has begun to have problems. We have all seen various specialists and doctors over the years, not one of them was willing to put a name to our suffering other than "wear and tear/fibromyalgia/osteoarthritis" even as children. My eldest was given a diagnosis of Ehlers Danlos when she was 27, we all carry the hLA-B27 gene, which should tell them that we're more susceptible to autoimmune problems. One even told my youngest daughter that 'it has to be activated" to cause the problems…erm, shouldn't surgery at 5 days old do that then?
As you can tell, I am angry at the medical profession and I would love to be able to shout at them that the pain we have all had for the biggest part of our lives is not just wear and tear!

Hello @YorkshireJayne
Welcome to the forum.
Yes, the awful words 'wear and tear'. Lots of people on the forum will be thinking the same.
Best Joanne
