Is fatigue worse after a flare up

I was diagnosed with psoriasis arthritis about 18 months ago.

I was on methotrexate tablets then moved onto injections until I was on 25mg injections. I was constantly feeling sick and even vomiting on it. I was then taken off it and put on sulfafalazine. Lasted 3 weeks on that but it made me that sick I nearly ended up in hospital. So they changed it to leflunomide and took bloods for biologics.

I took a bad reaction to that too but at the same time had a viral infection. This was at Christmas. My GP took bloods which showed in flamation but wanted them repeated. They were repeated the day before I flared up and my gp says they didn't show much inflammation but signed me off work for a week.Anyway I am due back at work on Thursday and I'm not in much pain now but I am really exhausted. I am trying to decide if I should go back to work or see if I can get another fit for work note.

On the us side I now have an appointment at rheumatology but I am worried they might not go biogic route if my last blood tests only showed a little bit inflammation.

Sorry for the long post I am just stressing so much now

    Hi @pmcg1

It sounds like you’ve been through a lot with your diagnosis and medication side effects.

Hard to give specific advice so I’ll promote that you use the Rheumatology Advice Line if you have one at your local hospital - they might be able to help you work through whether to take more time off or not.

(when I used this service, the team wrote to my GP outlining the support I may need and that really helped I think)

Fingers crossed you can find a medication that suits you and provides some relief.

The helpline at my local hospital isn't great. When it's working they take weeks to respond. My GP emailed the rheumatology nurse last week about me and I've still not heard anything.

But thanks for taking the time to respond

I think your GP if they know anything at all about the condition should understand the uniqueness of the fatigue we experience and be prepared to give you another fit note for a week at least @pmcg1 if you don't think you can manage back at work.

If you have any issues l liked Arciere's idea about getting your rheumatology team to enlighten your GP.

    Take care
