Post operative pain.
Fourteen weeks post hip replacement surgery and all has gone fairly well until now - I'm now experiencing more achiness and stiffness in the hip and thigh and am sometimes limping again. I've had two follow-up appointments cancelled and only saw the consultant two weeks after the op. Has anyone experienced increased pain at this stage - is it a normal part of the healing process?

Hi @anijen ,
Several of our members have had hip replacements in the last year and have kept a diary of their surgery and post op recovery - you might find the answer to your question in some of their posts. Others have also contributed their experiences too. Here’s one of the threads: https://community.versusarthritis.org/discussion/61897/thr-my-new-life-as-a-bionic-person/p1

Yes it could be part of the process if it's like an intense muscle pain like you've been running a marathon. As you are adapting to a new gait and posture, the muscles are in pain but everything will be settled. We all think that once the wound is healed we'll be fine but there is still a long way to fully recover. Anyway, if you feel that this is not a normal pain, I'd check with your physio.
