Hi everyone.

Just had a lightbulb moment at 5.30 am, like you do. And found you lot. !!!

II have suffered quietly for years , seeing no one in the family has OA\RA. Not alive anyway.

Finished work about two years ago due to i couldn't stand the pain, wasn't too bad then learned to live with it. But really struggling now, physically and mentally.

Just feeling a little alone, so I know your stories will give me help in understanding this bloody condition 🙊

I feel the same always done a lot of walking and getting about never thought I would end up with

This condition. The pain is unbearable especially when you get up in a morning. Given codeine but haven’t taken any yet. Just paracetamol. I don’t think some people realise how painful it is.

Hope we both feel better soon

    Hello  @Jacquiesue1961

Welcome to the forum, as you can see it's a friendly space!

    Best Joanne

Need more help - call our Helpline on 0800 5200 520 Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm

  • II have been on 30mg of codeine for years. It was the only way i could get through a working day. When i stopped work and reduced the amount , omg i thought my head was going explode. Not good stuff.

ON a waiting list , 10 month list to see a spespecialist.

Hard when you have been so active isn't it. I too have a stick or sticky as my grandkids call it lil. Just found out i have bloody cataracts so might be painting it white.

SO be careful with the codeine, more effective with paracetamol for pain relief.

CCan anyone advise any other ?

On the main site @Jacquiesue1961 there's a list let me find it.

Personally I've tried most things pain relief wise and they all work for a while. From paracetamol to codeine tramadol to butrans patches… Only thing I will say is do you (or can you?) take anti-inflammatories? They can be really helpful, but if you take them long term maybe speak to your GP for something to protect your stomach like lansoprazole/omeprazole.

A 10 month list it's outrageous isn't it? I need to go on one form my jaw and the two offered to me by my Drs have a 22 month lead time and it also says there are no appointments available. Why can't we try somewhere else - I'll travel! Plan on asking at the Drs when I drop of our repeat prescriptions today.

'Sticky' might have to be painted white!!! Like it. Got to keep our senses of humour haven't we?!!!

    Take care

I know what you feel like. I was a primary teacher and contemporary dance was my hobby!! Well I can dance in my head or go and see a performance - but it's not the same.

I can't even do my embroiderty now - a pulpit fall is sitting on my slate frame and my grandaughter's birth cross stitch needs finishing - she's 2 and a half now!

Learning Welsh has kept me occupied. I started on DuoLingo and now do lessons via Zoom with some brilliant anf funny people. Maybe trying a language might help????

I take an anti-imflamtory, small dose sleeping tablet and 2 Dry-codamol 20 before bed. The Rhumatologist suggested the sleeping tablet and that has been a life saver. My hubby says I toss and turn but I'm not aware of it. See your GP or specialist and discuss it with them.

There are lots of good ideas on the webpage here and the simple exercise videos of Leon and his mum have been brilliant.

So keep in contact with all that is here. There might even be a local "Versus Arthritis" group you can get to.

    Arthritis is horrible.

If you see a skeleton 5' 3" wandering down the road …….grab it for me before anyone else gets it. I need a new one.
