Help for flare up.
Hi, I am very new to forum and just looking for some advice, I've been having a bad flareup of psoriatic arthritis(worst one yet) and I phone rheumatology helpline this morning and left a message, I heard nothing back and wondering if nhs 111 could help? I need a steroid injection so I'm good for Monday and ok for work , any advice welcome.

Hello @Trmarie welcome to the online community
I am sorry to learn that you are having a bad flare up. If you have not heard back from your Rheumatology team I think NHS 111 is the wisest route to follow.
It sounds as though you have had to deal with flare ups before, even so I attach some links about them in the hope that they might be helpful to you.
I hope you find some form of pain relief to help you over the weekend. Do let us know how you get on.
Best wishes
Poppyjane

Hi Tracey @Trmarie, thanks for your message. We hope NHS 111 and the links Poppyjane posted helped over the weekend, and that you’re not in so much pain now. If you are experiencing worsening flare ups or having an increasing number of them, we’d recommend asking your rheumatologist to review your treatment. I’ve provided information on different treatments, and things that can help to manage the symptoms. You may also find our information on managing your condition in the workplace helpful, as it explains your rights, the reasonable adjustments you can apply for and the support that is available. Hope it helps.
Many thanks, Natalie, Helpline Advisor.

Hi unfortunately, out of hours GP wasn't able to help so patiently waiting for a call back from rheumatology, not sure if they can help but I'm hoping for a steroid injection .

Hi @Trmarie, thanks for your message. Sorry to hear that the out of hours GP couldn't help, and I hope that the rheumatology team get back to you very soon. I've included information on steroid injections, in case you have any questions about them, and shared some peoples experiences of psoriatic arthritis and how they manage their flares. Hope it helps.

Hi @Trmarie
I'm not sure if you've heard from Rheumatology yet, but if you're still needing their help, it's worth ringing the main hospital switchboard and asking to speak to the medical secretary for your named Rheumatologist, as they can get a message through (it helps to explain the severity of your situation so they can prioritise the call). Do ring us on 0800 5200 520 for some informal support.
All the best
