Afternoon all.

After 2 cancellations and a waste of time telephone appointment, I have my first face to face orthopedic appointment on Monday 😱

We'll be discussing potential keyhole surgery on my hip and I'm terrified.

Any advice appreciated πŸ™

Thank you for your kind words @Naomi33 I've not really used this platform before as I've noticed that members rarely offer the advice or support others are looking for.

I have a list of questions to ask now and just keeping everything crossed for tomorrow 🀞

    Hi,

Yes, ask your questions and don't be frightened to. Surgeons are used to that as are pre-op nurses. Keyhole surgery is usually a lot simpler and aftercare better than full incision technique. Healing is quicker too. My friend had hers done last month and is moving really well.

I have keyhole surgery on Thurs for a trapezectomy (removal of a wee bone in my thumb) after waiting 4 years (2 of which were Covid). I will only need a "block" anaestic instead of a general - so that will be a relief.

Don't be afraid you will fell so much better and have more movement when it is done.

    Good luck.

Thanks @Moira . Unfortunately I'm not suitable for the keyhole procedure due to the arthritis. Specialist doesn't feel it would be of benefit as the labrum has completely worn away already.

As I have pain in the outer hip area, he wants to try a steroid injection for possible bursitis first to see if that gives me any relief. If that doesn't help then there'll be further discussion about possible hip replacement, so I just need to wait again now.

Hope you're op goes well on Thursday πŸ€—
