    Hi @clairebe

Welcome to the online community, great to see you are posting and asking for advice.

I know how you feel i was once was in your place i too have osteoarthritis and a diabetic and high blood pressure

I got help from my diabetic nurse and she encouraged me to diet as i wanted to come off my medication. It was a battle to lose weight as I loved cakes and things,i joined a weight loss class and now i am in remission of my diabetes having lost 3st in weight,it took will power and getting use to smaller meals but persiverance won,but i did have help and encouragement just find a diet that you can stick with mine is a mediteranian diet which suited me.also lowGi diet a combination. of both.I went to a help line diet WLR resources just google it and join it has been great for me but as i say choose one that you like.Losing weight also helped the pain ease on my osteoarthritis.

everyone on this forum is helpful and friendly and you will get encouragement and help you a long,a food diary may help aswell recording all you eat.

Hope all goes well keep posting and chatting

Morning @ClaireB1974 nice to meet you I see you have to get healthy so you can have your hips sorted out.

I think I read somewhere it's only 20% what we do 80% is what we eat. So bad news is we have to cut down.

We have had people who are full-time wheelchair users here lose that sort of amount. Some used WW some used SW some just did it on their own. You can do it you really can you have a really good motivator there you desperately need surgery.

I don't think Versus arthritis advise any particular diet they do I lied - just had a look:

If you wanted to you could do a weight loss diary on here and check in every week - people have done that before we'd cheer you on😊

Best of luck Claire it won't be easy, but I'm sure you can do it
