Reactive Arthritis

Hi all,
I am looking for others affected by reactive arthritis.

I first encountered this 2 years ago after having COVID and it affected every joint in my body. I eventually got better, however I was being investigated by urology due to blood in my urine and after having the camera in my bladder and a renal CT scan I was discharged from urology with no concerns.

Fast forward to December 2024, I was ill again with COVID/flu like symptoms and I am now suffering with terrible knee pain and again blood in my urine. Im not sure the blood in my urine ever went away as after being discharged by urology there was no follow up.

Anyway doctors are being very dismissive and telling me to follow things up with them if I don’t improve. I am wondering if anyone else experienced the blood in their urine?

Finding it very difficult and frustrating to find a GP that is willing to investigate things further and help.

Any information and advice would be really appreciated :)

I certainly wouldn't be letting that lie in your shoes!

A fair few people have had arthritis following covid (or the vaccine) or worsening of existing arthritis symptoms, but you are the first to mention blood in your urine.

I think it's possible to purchase wee testing kits so you could monitor yours yourself a bit, but honestly I do think they ought to be investigating the issue properly. Do you take anyone with you when you go to the Drs? That can help prevent you form being fobbed off.

    Good luck

    Thanks for the reply Toni.

The blood in the urine is concerning. I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this as a symptom of reactive arthritis? In the hope it’s nothing more sinister.

The situation is very frustrating because I am a laboratory healthcare professional and it was myself that told the GP as I had checked my urine at home.

I will keep continuing until I get answers.

    Thanks again x
