Hi @Mommabear,
Just like Naomi above said it all depends on your individual recovery.I had a good 3 months before I could even drive with my right knee replacement and had a few complications following surgery.
Fully prepared when I went in 7 months later to have the left knee replaced I was driving and back at work at 6 weeks!
I had my right hip replaced just over a year ago and it was all going well but had complications after 3 weeks and couldn’t get back to normal exercises for 8 months! Just over a year on now though and so much more I can do than before surgery. My biggest advice, do all the physio but listen to your body too (over doing it can be just as detrimental as not doing enough physio).
It will be worth it xx Good luck with your surgery x

Hi @Mommabear - I agree with Naomi and ClairyB4 - everyone is different and you really need to listen to your body, do your exercises and take life at your pace. So much often depends on how you are when you have surgery. I was in a great deal of pain and really not very mobile at all. Within a couple of weeks I was actually pain free and getting about as well as I was previously, but it was several months before I felt I was living a good and mobile life without having to think and plan everything.
I was driving within three weeks but I have an automatic car and it was my left leg that was replaced. I was walking short distances - around twenty minutes - easily by around 12 weeks but by five months I was noticeably stronger and coping better. My next proper progress was around 9 months but now at almost 15 months I am stronger, walking further, not even really thinking about it, and I realise I am probably better than I have been in a number of years.
I wish you well with your surgery and recovery.
