Is Yuflyma working?
Hi
I'm a 63 year old who was diagnosed with palindromic arthritis 4 years ago (wrongly, I think) then the diagnosis was switched to inflammatory arthritis. I initially presented with a hot knee and severe exhaustion which isn't any better to this day. It's been a difficult journey and I have been through hydoxychlorioquine, sulphasalazine and methotrexate, all the while shored up on prednisolone, which I managed to get off with difficulty about six months ago. I was put on Yuflyma a year ago and find myself in decline over the past two or three months. I have asked repeatedly if my diagnosis is correct and have been brushed off. I do wonder if I've been mislabelled. In the run up to diagnosis I was a postie, doing up to 40,000 steps a day against the clock. Now I struggle to do 10,000 sauntering steps and pay the price big time for a couple of days if I do. Today, my elbows, thumbs. wrists, knees, hip and ankles are bad. I haven't had flares in the sense of being totally unable to walk as I had pre Yuflyma but I'm beginning to feel that the Yuflyma is not benefitting me. Has anyone else experienced this?
Thank you

Hello @Indecline and welcome to the Online Community. We are a friendly and supportive group and I hope that will be your experience as well.
I've put some info from our website below, but hopefully you will get comments from others who are also on the same medication.
I hope that you get some responses and help soon.
Best wishes
Peter

Hi @Indecline
Sorry to hear about your journey so far. Sounds like you don’t have many spoons to play with on a daily basis. If you don’t know what I’m talking about - look up spoon theory for fatigue, it’s interesting.
I take Yulflyma and ussualy rave about it. Although today, and as I type - I am overwhelmed by fatigue. So I’ll say that it works 90% of the time, but like I’ve said before, the RA likes to remind me that it’s always there - just in case I forget.
I usually try and reflect on my day to find a reason for fatigue - mainly what I ate - but I really can’t think of anything that might have caused this, save for a stressful morning….. Everyone is different but I’m beginning to think even the slightest bit of stress can fire up an inflammatory response in myself.I gave up gluten, artificial sweetner, potato’s, tomatoes and peppers / which has made a difference despite being an old tale maybe.
I have found such success with Yulflyma I actually asked for a bigger dose but apparently there is only one dose.
Are you compliant with the instructions- you know, frequency of taking it, storing in the fridge, leaving it at room temp for 20 minutes before you take it, cycling through the thigh and abdomen each time you inject? Are your pens in date? Was this batch left outside the fridge for any length of time?Have you been for bloods recently ?
And
are you eating and hydrating properly? I find the fatigue a bit of an appetite killer and I do think hydration plays a part. I like those new sparking waters called Dash and Aqua Libra - nothing in them apparently, but it seems to stay in - lol
sorry if these are all questions you’ve thought of. I hope it improves for you soon.0
