hi

I’ve just been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. I have been told that I’ll be starting methotrexate as soon as.
just wanted to know if anyone has had any positive experiences with having methotrexate, or if they recommend taking it.

    hi there

I’m sorry to learn about your diagnosis.

I also have PsA. There are a wide range of drugs to help settle the disease symptoms.

What you’ll find, is that the medics will start with methotrexate and see if that works, before moving on to other (more expensive?) interventions.

I just read a post from @jamieA that talks about the need for assertiveness (standing up for myself whilst respecting others) with the healthcare system because if methotrexate doesn’t work for you, then the advice is ensure you drive the next prescription with your healthcare professional.

In my case I felt that methotrexate didn’t relieve symptoms, made me feel kind of car sick and interfered with my mental health. I do read some positive stories however, so it’s all very personal.

I’ve posted before about lifestyle changes that have helped hugely (in my anecdotal opinion) so see if you can search my previous posts about my diet experiences and the avoidance of a stressful mind.

    hope this helps
