Foot pain
I've recently started getting really bad foot pain and I'm struggling to get about the bottom of my foot is so painful. And the pain is starting to travel around my foot and I feel pain in my lower back. I've tried using a pain relief gel on my foot but it doesn't seem to help at all.

Morning @Jojo_16
Foot pain is a really difficult pain to live with I now having experienced it in the past. I did a few things ranging from icing (rolled my foot over a frozen bottle of water) to the gels you mention as well as my usual pain relief.
It might help to look at your shoes to see whether any changes there might help:
It may be that you could discuss this with your GP in some cases orthotics (inserts for your shoes) might be needed.
Hopefully some of our members will be able to share their experience
Ellen.

Thank you for the advice yeah it's hard when I have school runs to do and I'm on my feet a lot at work so not much rest in between.

Oh @Jojo_16 I am sorry you're struggling with you feet now. I know you have RA (I think I remember rightly), but I'd still suggest you look at your shoes in the first instance. My sister in law was really struggling with her hip and changing her shoes (in her case to skechers) really helped. She works in Amazon and is standing all day 10 hour shifts I think.
My feet like a cool soak I have one of those bubbly electric food baths.
If those easy fixes (shoes/time maybe it's a flare?) don't help as for a referral or speak to rheumatology.
Take care

Hi thanks frogmorton yeah I've got new trainers to try hopefully it helps because its a nausence when I'm always on school runs and work. I might have to dig my foot spa out and try that.

hi, I struggled with terrible feet pain and I finally got a pair of New Balance trainers, they are wider and I went up a size. I spent ages trying different types. They are the only shoes I can wear as all my others cause too much pain. My pain is better, not excruciating now but still present, but at least I can walk.

Have you tried stretching or using orthotic insoles? Sometimes, a change in footwear can help. If it's not getting better, it might be worth seeing a specialist to rule out things like plantar fasciitis or other conditions. Hopefully, it starts feeling better soon!

Hi @Jojo_16 Based on the symptoms you're describing - severe bottom foot pain that's spreading and causing lower back pain - this could indicate plantar fasciitis or another serious foot condition that requires professional evaluation. Since over-the-counter pain relief isn't helping and the pain is affecting your mobility and spreading to your back, I'd strongly recommend seeing a foot and ankle specialist for proper diagnosis and treatment rather than continuing to self-treat.
