  • Hello @Remo

Thank you for posting on Chat to Helpline.

I am sorry to hear about your new diagnosis and hope you are not experiencing too much pain. It can be a worrying time when you are first diagnosed with a new condition. Pain and reduced mobility limits daily activities and can drag you down.

You are very welcome to call our Free Helpline on 0800 5200 520 weekdays 9am – 6pm if you would like to talk things through informally and in confidence. Just to let you know, we are not medically trained.

It may help to talk things through further with your GP and explore treatment options. Hopefully, you have been referred to a specialist or the musculoskeletal (MSK) service.

Chondrocalcinosis means the presence of calcium deposits in the cartilage of a joint. It was used to describe a condition called pseudogout (calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate crystal deposition disease, CPPD), but chondrocalcinosis is a more general term for calcium deposits and there are a number of other causes apart from pseudogout.

You are welcome to post on our Living with arthritis - Versus Arthritis forum if you haven't done so already. This is a positive and supportive space where you may receive more responses to your post.

I hope you find the information below of some help.

Please keep posting and let us know how you are getting on.

    Best wishes,

    Fiona, Helpline Advisor
