hi guys, well had my blood tests and liver behaving itself but I just wondered if anyone would know about the white count being 14.5 x 10”9 /L being high and my Absolute Neutrophil being 11.0 x 9”/L being high, means my white cells are fighting an infection or could anybody let me know wat else it could mean, thank you

Causes of High Neutrophil/White Blood Cell Count:

    • Infections: The Cleveland Clinic states that bacterial infections are a common cause of neutrophilia, and viral infections can also cause it, particularly in the early stages.
    • Inflammation: Any condition that causes inflammation, such as rheumatoid arthritis or ulcerative colitis, can elevate neutrophil and white blood cell counts.
    • Stress: Acute stress, such as from injury or surgery, can also lead to an increase in white blood cell production.
    • Medications: Some medications, including steroids, can increase white blood cell counts.
    • Importance of Further Evaluation:While a temporary increase in neutrophils or white blood cells is often a normal response to stress or infection, persistent or significant elevation warrants further evaluation by a doctor to determine the underlying cause

My own experience has been WBC elevating at times of stress or injury, while neutrophils elevating due to infection.

I have found monocytes closer in correlation to RA active symptoms and Eosinophils correlating to eating flare triggers like gluten and casein.

As per the note above stress plays a part as your brain orchestrates quite a bit of your immune response and inflammation. But a single snapshot test is not enough to draw much of a conclusion, I had to look back on my 3 years of charts to see what correlated. You could do the same if you ask your hospital to send you the details for MyCharts, which all the top tier hospitals in the UK & around the world use.
