I have recently been sent adverts on facebook for ground sheets which connect your bed to your homes earth stake via the plug socket. Has anyone had any positive experiences from these or are they a con.

    Hello @Laves02

I don't have any experience of the grounding sheets you mention, but have also seen the adverts on facebook. They are quite expensive!

This is a link about them from the NHS Patients access website. https://patient.info/news-and-features/grounding-mats-can-they-boost-your-wellbeing

It's worth noting this paragraph : There's no solid scientific evidence to say that grounding mats can definitively treat certain health conditions. However, if using one helps you sleep better and feel more relaxed, that alone can have positive effects on your wellbeing. If it works for you, by all means continue.

    All the best Joanne

@Laves02 @PJoanne Ground sheets or “grounding” in reference to health benefits are a scam. As PJoanne pointed out in the NHS text, there’s no clinical research proof of the benefits, such as a double blind controlled trial. Testimonials often plugged by such scammers are no proof, just victims benefiting from power of belief.

If you had a traditional wooden bed or IKEA it would be a complete joke & waste. Worse, if your house wiring had an electrical fault, on a metal bed you’d be at risk of electrocuting yourself, (eg If you touched a metal bedframe while putting your feet on the ground to get out of bed) but the seller would disavow of any responsibility by claiming it was your fault.

In fact as any benefit relies on the placebo effect, - you would get EXACTLY the same benefit by waking up each morning and touching the bathroom tap to clean your toothbrush! Or taking a shower!

Grounding or Earthing is a legal requirement for all bathroom water equipment to stop you accidentally getting a shock from your electric shower or any faulty house equipment that comes in contact with your c/h or water pipes.

So rest assured, as long as your bathroom was installed by a properly qualified tradesperson (or checked by an electrician), you get grounding benefit each morning!!! Free!!
