Not All Supplements Work

I have stage 2 OA in my right knee. 3 years ago my orthopedic surgeon suggested taking Genacol (Type2 collagen). At some point I decided to stop taking it & low & behold pain returned to my knee. I immediately was back on and haven't gone off of it since. It must be the Genacol (Canadian product) that's making my knee stiff.

My rheumatologist recommended Viartril-S, a product of Ireland. It's Glaucosamine sulfate in powder form and you drink it daily. It seemed to help, however it was raising the eye preassure. I have leanings toward glaucoma. Don't take Viartril-S if you're prone to glaucoma.

As a replacement I now take Probiflex HA (Taiwan product) which is collagen and hyaluronic acid in powder form. It seems to be good, but I'm not keen on the pineapple taste. Just got to ignore the taste.

I take other supplements, but it's not for my OA. I make a daily effort to stay hydrated. I ice the knee daily for 20 minutes. I wear knee braces 24 hours a day. Those 2 supplements seem to help my knee especially the Genacol. What supplements work for you?

  • I forgot, I also take Piascledine, a product from France . It's unsaponifliable soybean and avocado oil. It's an anti-inflammatory for OA.
