Pain Clinic

After waiting 11 months for a pain clinic appointment they finally phoned last Thursday.
My nsaid was stopped last May after 38 years use of Froben 100mg anti inflamatory which finally started rotting my stomach. Up until that day this concoction of meds worked perfectly with no stomach issues what so ever and held my condition at bay.
now its back with a vengence.
the stomach pain did ease after 3 weeks so i was started on a cox 2 Etoricoxib 60mg. sadly the pain started up again in my stomach and now moved to my groin area and has been continuous for past 11 months. I stopped this one a month later but the stomach pain continued.
In the last 6 months my good right hip has totally gone bone on bone and xray shows very severe. my c spine neck has also started pain in last month.
I am on df118 codein and oromorph as well as 20mg methotrexate and 6 weekly anti tnf infusion bio similar remsima but this new doctor at pain clinic wants to start me on Duloxetine starting on 20mg and moving upto 60mg
Doctor asks to check with my mental health team before starting but ive never been seen by anyone for mental health.
Has anyone else been prescribed Duloxetine and what were the side effects.
Im very reluctant to start this drug as i dont fancy beeing totally out of it all the time especially with the morphine and codein which also make you drousy.
Think i would rather go back on my original nsaid and suffer the stomach pain more.
Ive got a mri booked in a month as when i also saw Gastro clinic last week Crones disease was mentioned.

Intersting read @Ellen thanks for the links.
Me thinks Im more inclined to try Nefopam and stay well clear of Duloxetine if the choice is upto me.
Not got a rheumy appt until July but having anti tnf infusion in 2 weeks so will see if i can sneak in to see the doc to ask his advise as well.
Will keep you updated.

Hi @MrDJ
I can't take NSAIDS due to other meds and a few years back a lovely GP prescribed me Nefopam as an alternative painkiller which I loved. None of the horrible side effects of the other stuff they like to put you on these days. Read up on it and give it a go - it's better than the alternatives if it works for you!
