Hello. I have a diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis which is fairly well managed with biologic injections. I have had pain in my groin for over three years. I have had every scan and test there is. At the beginning I was told mild arthritic changes and an osteophyte. The groin pain is triggered by sitting upright, driving, having my legs pressed together in bed. It is a sharp pain deep in my groin. I have hip stiffness and walk with a slight limp. Walking long distance causes the groin pain. The consultant has told me the pain is not coming from my hip. I am at my wits end. I have no gynaecological issues. Nerve conduction tests were negative. I don’t know what to do next. This affects my daily living every day. The only thing that ever helped was a diagnostic local anaesthetic injection into my hip joint which stopped all pain for three days. Consultant said that’s meaningless as it would have numbed the entire area. Any ideas? Thanks for reading.

    Hello @Jayneyb

Was there anything that triggered the pain initially? You say that you have hip stiffness and a slight limp, is that on the same side as the groin pain? The diagnosis of arthritic changes and ostephyte (bone spur) could explain the pain, especailly if there is nerve or muscle inpingement. When you say walking long distances causes the pain, have you tried a walking aid like a walking stick to take some of the weight away from the affected joint?

I expect you have already tried this but perhaps putting a pillow inbetween your knees if you side sleep could help with the pain at night as well.

Just some thoughts until you get some other responses!

    Best Joanne
