MTX & Depression

I’ve been on MTX for relapsing Polychondritis for a while, about Six months, and I have started suffering with depression again. Fortunately I know the warning signs rather than just spiralling downwards out of control, I have realised that I am showing warning signs with my behaviour and thought process.
Has anyone else that is on MTX suffered similar side effects please, and if so did you change from MTX onto something else or was the depression treated please?

Hi @Skinny Keef
I'm so sorry to hear this. I suppose you can't be sure it is the methotrexate causing the depression. If I were in your situation, I would speak to your GP about treating the depression, or if you are pretty confident it is a side effect of the MTX maybe chat to your rheumatologist about a change of meds. In the meantime, if you need someone to talk to about how you're feeling, please do give our helpline a ring on 0800 5200 520. They are open Monday to Friday, and they are great.
Wishing you all the best, Claudia x
