To take hydroxychloroquine or not, that is the question....
Hello fellow travellers… yep, Im new here but not new to RA and its chums OA and OP, been diagnosed since 2014.. on sub cut Methotrexate which is brilliant…. no pain and no side affects unlike the tablets which made me feel dreadful. Anyway, my specialist nurse prescribed HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE is that how it's spelt? I was horrified to read that it can affect your vision and the actual eye itself. As I am also hearing impaired I totally rely on having decent vision, after a long night with broken sleep I thought Id ask you chaps, have you had any experience of this medication, good and not so good affects. My main problem is the pain and damage being caused by my osteo arthritis which is not affected by the meds…. is it worth taking??? ARRRGGGGH

You may want to contact our helpline who will be able to give you some more in depth advice (details below). However, we are not medically qualified and are unable to give advice on whether to take a particular medication or not. It is very important that you discuss your concerns with your specialist nurse.
I also note that you have posted your message twice so I have deleted the other post.

Hmmmm….. if the pain is osteo damage I doubt it will make much difference to that???
Are your markers high or something to indicate a clinical need?
